A diploma proves only that you know how to find an answer.

I’m not dead or gone, I’m just busy as hell.

  • Notae 2.1 is looking nice. Full AppleScript editing support including making new notes and tags and assigning tags and such. Search via AppleScript may be clunky to make it fast because Apple doesn’t let me override the logic of a “whose” statement, it appears. I’m thinking I may make a command like “find [class] where [property] [condition] [value] (in [list])” so you could do: find notes where name is “bob” in (find notes where tags contains “tag1”). I’ve not gotten that far, so we’ll see if I can make it work.
  • The day job has turned from programming to looking for programmers and money. Not fun.

Well, I’m finally going to WWDC this year. After so many years of trying to land a full-time Mac programming job, it’s finally happened and now I have cause and means to get out there and see it all.

I’ll be at the various get-togethers as well, so if you see a waddling fat guy wearing a brown Duff Beer hat, say hi.

The sessions look great this year, and I have it on authority that there are some very amazing little announcements coming out at WWDC, but, of course, the person could not be specific (nor would I ask that, having worked there). But we’ll all know Monday anyway, so there’s no sense in caring right now when we can just sit tight, eh? Smiling

My wife got a hold of iWeb and over the course of a few days managed to do some crazy things with that site that I’m still kind of poking at and going “It does that?”

Just a few years ago she sent her first email (when you opened the program for her) and today she has a job troubleshooting and publishing over SFTP while distributing her performance videos via Google Video. That monkey’s ass is burning something fantastic.

A little deduction goes a long way, but I’ll spell it out for the lot of you: this guy is this guy and this guy.

I’m changing my username on the sites I’m an author/owner of to make it more obvious, but now that I’m not working for Apple any more there’s no need to not say who I am as I write about the Mac, so there’s no need for the nickname/alias/handle/cover-of-darkness that was “codepoet”.

But the domain’s nifty, so I’ll keep it. Smiling

Oh, and for the record:

  1. It’s “codepoet”
  2. and “codepoetry”

Not “Code Poet” or “Code poet” or “codePoet” or whatever other incarnation. Same with codepoetry. If you can get iPod right, you can get that right.

I’m calling in sick for my blog. Really bad head cold. Room … spinning.

I hate this time of year. Every year I get exactly one cold, but it always lays me out and it’s always in October.

I’ll be adding to my del.icio.us feed as I poke around the web, even if I’m not capable of coherent thought at the moment. Check it out on the sidebar. RSS feed icon is right below it. Or, get the best of both and get my Feed Burner feed which interlaces (“splices” they call it) this feed and my D.L.U feed. Huzzah.

I’m off to go collapse in a ball of discomfort somewhere.

Yeah, I post and then post a lot after it. Seems being stuck at home makes one bored. Whodathunkit?

Kung-Log stopped working. That’s the reason I’ve been slow. I’ve not had a nice and pretty Mac OS X program to type into and that’s why I’ve been absent. When I hit “Post” it would just sit there and say “Posting…” and not go anywhere. After giving in, now a month later, and actually troubleshooting it instead of going ehh I discovered that if I removed the ~/Library/Application Support/Kung Log/storage.plist file and re-gathered all the weblogs’ information that it would post.

So I’m posting.

Well, that’s not the whole reason for the absence. Nothing has been happening in the tech world lately that’s worthy of comment. A few frivolous lawsuits, some idiots whining about this and that, but nothing interesting. I can’t write about nothing; this isn’t Seinfeld.

A hacking cough, a root canal, and other general fun. Be back in a weekish. If you want to make some noise hit the forums where I might stop in now and again.

I mentioned the USB Christmas tree earlier. Living in an apartment with cats that eat paper, plastic, wood, cloth, and plants, trees are not a good item to have around. This is my pathetic Christmas. Share it with me. Smiling
